Who We Are

The Port Edward Volunteer Fire Department (PEVFD) proudly serves the District of Port Edward and surrounding areas with dedication and professionalism. Since it was established in 1967, our volunteer firefighters and emergency responders provide fire suppression, emergency medical response and support during emergencies.

Committed to both safety and service, the department emphasizes ongoing training, modern equipment, and cooperation with neighboring departments to ensure effective and timely response. Beyond emergencies, we actively support fire prevention efforts and community engagement.

Fire Chief, Jason Giesbrecht

Fire Chief Jason Giesbrecht has proudly served his department since January 1998 and has led as Chief since February 2019. Over the course of his career, he has earned his designation as a licensed First Responder and First Responder Instructor, demonstrating his commitment to both emergency response and professional development.

He further expanded his expertise by completing specialized training in Pueblo, Colorado with the CN Dangerous Goods Team, where he became a certified Tank Car Specialist for rail cars.
