Resource Management
Completed
The District of Port Edward is committed to ensuring the long-term sustainability and efficiency of our community’s infrastructure. We are pleased to share an update on our Asset Management Plan. This plan focuses on evaluating and maintaining key assets to support the District's financial planning and operational efficiency.
Key Objectives:
- Condition Assessments: Conduct detailed condition assessments for water and wastewater treatment plants, as well as key buildings in the District.
- Asset Register and Capital Forecasts: Updating the District’s asset register and creating long-term capital renewal forecasts to support informed financial planning for essential infrastructure.
- OMI Assessment Tool: Developing an Operations, Maintenance, and Inspections (OMI) tool to record and analyze necessary activities for the upkeep of treatment plant assets, ensuring sustainable operation.
This project will provide the District with a comprehensive understanding of its infrastructure, supporting more informed decision-making for the maintenance and sustainability of our services.
Resource Management Project – A Smarter Way to Plan
The District of Port Edward has completed the Resource Management Project, a new tool designed to help us better understand our resources and allocations. This innovative system allows us to track, manage, and plan our infrastructure, facilities, and services more efficiently.
Why This Matters
Managing a district requires good data and smart planning. With this tool, we can:
✅ See what resources we have – buildings, water systems, roads, and more.
✅ Understand how they are used – so we can allocate them effectively.
✅ Plan for the future – ensuring long-term sustainability and cost savings.
How It Works
This system collects and organizes data on:
- Water, storm, and sanitary infrastructure
- Municipal buildings and facilities
- Water treatment and distribution systems
Using this information, we can identify maintenance needs, forecast repairs, and optimize spending—helping us make better decisions for the community.
What’s Next?
With the Resource Management Tool in place, the District will continue to analyze data, monitor infrastructure conditions, and improve service delivery. This ensures that taxpayer dollars are used wisely and that our community remains strong, safe, and well-maintained for years to come.
Stay tuned for more updates on how this project benefits Port Edward!
